Protected from Trade wind, and rain by the highs mountains (3000 m), most of our sites are on the West coast , it permit us to fly more than 300 days/year. So we fly under the wind, in a smooth breeze coming up from the beach. No dynamic, but small thermals, witch will oblige pilots to be subtle to catch them. That's perfect for students and pilots who want to improve their techniques.
If you come from far, avoid coming at :
rainy season, from 15/01 to 15/03. Weather is warm and humid, we need to fly soon the clouds are low (<800m). Very calm conditions, perfected for beginners, but take care with the cyclone ! We can be locked at home for 2/3 days with the wind, and 1 week of big rain.
Winter from 1/06 to 15/07. Trade winds comes from SE and blows on the West coast. This is also the shortest days of the year, the sea is cold .

Schedule
Because of the humidity, we are an island under the tropic, we fly soon in the morning (7h in summer, 8h in winter).
- First flight, generally the 1400, air is calm, perfect for beginners and exercises.
- Second flight (10h), the 800 m, thermals are at the rendezvous, advanced students will train to catch them and begin their first little cross country.
Each flight is with an exercise adapted to your level.
Advanced students can do two flights in the morning, one flight for beginners
Material At Reunion we don't have steep takeoff , we aren't very high during the fly (100/200m ground) and landings are far away from takeoff. We need wings with a good flying rate, minimum 7 to be sure to go to landing place with a facing wind. For those reason our student flies with standard wings, for safeties, but not the school model, the more performance one in the range, to make good flights.
Seats are with mossback for good protection.
Helmet, radio are given by the school. Come with good shoes, sun glasses, high level solar protection cream. You don't need warm suits, we fly with shorts and T-shirts, 3/4 of the year!
Formalities
In France, we need an assurance delivered at school by the French Federation.
You can take it when you arrive. It cost :
Student 8 days : 25 euros
Student a year : 47 euros
You are cover only if you fly under the control of instructor.
You just need a medical authorisation to get it.
For pilots this assurance cost : 69,50 euros.
